bloody *hell*

I will be posting when I have done the pay run.

I will be doing the pay run when I have fixed whatever has caused the office PC to not to be able to find it's hard disk.

Gah.

  1. It's good to hear you're still having fun with the payroll.
If the office PC can't locate it's own hard drive I suggest it needs delicate adjustment with a 9lb lump-hammer. Either that or a damned good kicking!

  3. I love the expression "bloody hell" and plan to apply it to my own payroll woes at work.

  5. This might sound silly, but could the connector for your hard drive have come undone? Just a thought, that was the reason when I had that problem.

  6. Steg / SheWeevil - I told it that you would be round if it didn't behave to give it a good thumping and then draw Strawbridges all over it, and now it's working :).

Kate - I wondered about the hard-drive connector - it was second on my list to check. But I've managed to boot it off a floppy and done a chkdisk and a scandisk from DOS and it has done some repairs to itself; and now it seems to be working again. The hard-drive is pretty old and I think we might need to think about changing it - there are loads of bad sectors on it. I've just set it backing up everything important to our online-backup people.

Anonymous - hello and welcome! Would you care to delurk? Or give yourself a pseudonym? We are all very friendly here, but I do normally delete people who don't leave a name ... :).
